STORY ABOUT TERRACOTTA BOY

Terracotta Soldiers, sublime and ultimate Chinese cultural treasure is a part of the world's cultural heritage. They are one of the icons of China after which whole world recognizes Chinese civilization and culture, but also identifies Chinese people with. When looking at the soldiers from the distance, likewise observing the crowd in a train station, they all look the same, but on a closer look, one realizes how every and each of them has different face, different destiny and different personal story embedded into terracotta clay. For every artist it is a big and irresistible invitation to start exploring and digging out hidden life behind the masks made of terracotta clay.

The rich Chinese mythology, offers unlimited possibilities for imagination, artistic creation and exploration. The mythological world challenges us to think of the spirit of the nation and how this spirit created cultural history, the identity of peoples and individuals.

Contemporary life on the other hand, burdened with lot of different problems blurs the clear picture of and connection with the cultural background. The aggressive globalization is erasing indigenous cultures and is making globalized world faceless. Cultural differences, that used to make the world interesting place to live are disappearing. The identity of a nation and of an individual is threatened. Especially young people, the biggest victims of globalization and colonization of cultural industries have big problem finding their own identity.

All this we tried to put together in a story of a boy in quest, in search for his own identity. On his journey he will face history and mythology, he will fight dark shadows of contemporary living, and at the end of his journey he will understand how only with close connection with his culture and history, only in harmony with nature and Natural Law he can create his own identity and be unique individual and complete person without mask.

The story and the performance is an invitation to all young people to go for this journey too. We wish them all successful traveling.
